Hard Work Versus Soft Work #2
Every swimmer knows what hard work means, but what about “soft work?” It’s a term I’ve coined, and it’s the opposite of hard work. Six days a week, swimmers beat up their bodies and repeat it month after month! Over time, this harsh treatment leads to stiffness, soreness, and possible injury! The secret to longevity and success in swimming is to add soft work activities to your daily hard work routines, including stretching.
This week’s mission is to watch and perform the stretches found on this 20-minute video. Pick the ones that work best and discard the rest. I believe some of the exercises found on this video can work out the “deep tightness” you continually feel in your shoulders, back, and hips.
