As people, we all possess ‘inner wisdom.’ Some believe we’re born with it, while others think it develops over a lifetime. I happen to subscribe to both views. I also contend that one’s self-knowledge is ultimately responsible for their level of success and happiness in life. To develop it to the fullest, swimmers must include their voice and those they trust (like parents, close friends, and coaches) before making an important decision. Sadly, many swimmers don’t trust their decision-making ability and defer to others. The problem with this scenario is that they fail to strengthen their inner wisdom by relying on others exclusively. The term ‘use it or lose it’ fits perfectly here.
This week’s challenge is to rely on yourself when taking action and then share your thoughts with your inner circle before making a final decision.
