I love quotes as they express so much wisdom, in so few words. Recently, I came across the following quote by English poet and master playwright, Robert Browning (1812-1889):
“The aim, if reached or not makes great the life, try to be Shakespeare and leave the rest to fate.”
If I were to apply his quote to the world of swimming it would read:
“The aim, if reached or not makes great the life, try to be Missy Franklin and leave the rest to fate.”
Or replace Missy Franklin’s name with another world-class athlete you admire or aspire to be.
If you stop and think about it, you have nothing to lose and only success to gain!
